African Cheetah

General Characteristics

Length : Male : 3.5 - 4.5 ft / Female slightly smaller

Weight : Male : 86 - 143 lbs / Female slightly smaller

Description -

	The cheetah has a slender, long-legged body with blunt, semi-retractable claws.
	Its coat is tan with small round black spots, and the fur is coarse and short.
	The cheetah has a small head with high-set eyes.
	Black “tear marks” which run from the corner of the eyes down the sides of the nose to the mouth, keep the
	sun out of the cheetah’s eyes and aid in hunting.

Range - Africa

Habitat - They live in treeless plain , medium, and long grass plain, bushes , tall grass, and other large plants.

Diet - They eat mainly gazelles, impalas, game birds, Hartebeest, rabbits, young warthogs, Kudu's and Oryx.

Status - Endangered

Reason for the status -Loss of habitat

Gestation Period - 91 - 95 days

Lifespan - 12 years (17 in captivity)
