Description

African wild dogs are the size of medium domestic dogs. The African wild dog has a  "painted wolf-like animal." Their coats are mottled in shades of brown, black and beige. They have large, rounded ears and dark brown circles around their eyes. The dogs differ from wolves and other dogs in that they have four toes instead of five.

Range - Africa , South of Sahara Desert in areas of semi-desert to mountainous and in zoos

Habitat - Savanna , arid regions of their range, Scrublands and mountainous areas

Diet - Impala , Wildebeest , and gazelle 

Status :- 3000 - 5,000

Reason for the Status - Habitat fragmentation (  break into small parts ), diseases, encroachment by human beings.

Gestation Period  :  69-73 days

Longevity  : 10-13 years
