Physical characteristics

Adult male Amur leopards can weigh 80 to 160 pounds and females from 60 to 120 pounds.

Males can reach five to seven feet in length and females four to five feet in length.

These cats have long legs that are said to help them when roaming through high snow.

Its fur is tan to orange in color and it has the black spots that are seen on all leopards.

This big cat's coat is much different than that of other leopards because it becomes quite pale during the winter and becomes very bright in the summer.

Its fur also grows one to three inches in the winter to help it stay warm in the winter months.

Head to body Length : 2 - 3.5 ft

Height : 1.5 - 2.5 ft

Weight  : Males :  146 - 344 lb  / Females : 98 - 229 lb

Range - Southeast Asia into Southern China. Northern China, far east Russia on the Korean peninsula and North-Eastern China

Habitat - Woodlands, Savannahs, and grasslands

Food -  Birds, fish, monkeys, deer, and rodents.

Status - Leopards are declining throughout geographic range

Reason for status - Habitat loss, and hunting

Gestation Period - 96 days

Lifespan : 17 years in wild / 27 years in captivity
