Range: Throughout northern parts of Africa, occurring in Sahara region and ranging eastward across the Arabian Peninsula.

Habitat: Mountainous area

Diet: grass, leaves and desert suckles

Status: The population is decreasing

Reason for the status: loss of habitat, overhunting, livestock, and drought

Gestation period: 186 days

Longevity: 23.70 years in the wild / 15 years
