General Characteristics

Head to body Length  :  6 1/2 to 8 1/4 ft ( 2- 2.5 meters ) 

Tail length : 23.5 - 31.5 in ( 60 - 80 cm )

Height : 2.1 to 3.4 m long (7 - 11 ft.)

Weight : 425 to 900 kg (935 - 2000 lb.)

Description 

 A water buffalo is a large, dark brown to black hoofed mammal, with drooping fringed ears and large curved horns

Range -The Indian Gaur lives in India and S.E Asia.

Habitat -They live in a hill forest area 

Diet - It eats leaves, and grasses .

Status - The population of Gaur is declining in the wild.

Reason for the Status - This is because of habitat destruction, overhunting human encroachment and diseases of domestic cattle.  

What kind of animal is it - It is a herbivore.

Gestation :11.5 months

Longevity : 15 to 25 years
