Adults have a bare head and neck, which are red in color apart from a black crown . Blueish-purple feathers cover the rest of the body and are long and glossy with a metallic green hue . The upper wing-coverts are a glossy purple-red and the long curved beak is also red . Juveniles have a dark (although not glossy) appearance and have gray feathers on their heads . Range - The Northern Bald Ibis are found in Morocco, Turkey, Eastern Africa and Arabian Peninsula. Habitat - They live in more arid lands, less wetland than other ibises. Diet - They eat Invertebrates, Amphibians, Reptiles, fish, rodents and birds. Status - There numbers are declining in the wild around the world. Reason for the status - This is because of people hunting them for food, and also because of habitat destruction. What type of animal is it - Carnivore Gestation : nine months Longevity : 24 years
