It is a small animal with a reddish brown coat which blends from darker shades on the back to light on the stomach. Across the back are prominent white bands, and it has a bushy tail. Each animal can be identified by its individual markings. The Numbat is the mammal emblem of Western Australia. Range - Numbat's are found in southwest to southcentral Australia east to southwest New South Wales, but now restricted to the western portion of this range, southwestern West Australia. Habitat - They live in temperate forest and rainforest. Diet - They eat termites and ants. Status - They are drastically declining in the world. Reason for the status - This is because of their habitat has been cleared for agriculture and destroyed by brush fires. In addition, introduced dogs, cats, and foxes kill the slow moving and easy-to-catch Numbat. What type of animal is it - It is a Carnivore. Gestation : 14 days Longevity : 5-6 years
