Range - The Red Wolves are found in southeastern United States, Texas, southwestern Louisiana, historical range--Alligator River in North Carolina, and the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina. Habitat - They live in temperate forest & rainforest. Diet - They eat rodents, small mammals are the main prey of red wolves. The dominant prey species include raccoons, white-tailed deer, swamp rabbits, cottontail rabbits, pigs, rice, rats, nutria, muskrats and carrion Status - . There are only 300 remaining in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina only. Reason for the status - This is because of habitat destruction, and serious threat to livestock. What type of animal is it - It is a Carnivore Gestation : 60-63 days Longevity : 14 to 15 years in captivity; four to six years in the wild. Coat ( How the animal looks like ) : Cinnamon or tawny with gray and black highlights.
