General Characteristics

Head to body Length : 39-46 cm (15 inches)

Tail Length :56-63 cm (24 inches) tail

Height :  15 - 18 inches

Weight :  2.3 - 3.5 kg (5 - 7 pounds)

Description : 

In fact, the species gets its common name from the ringed pattern of the fur on the tail. These lemurs have gray or rosy brown backs with lighter gray or brown hind legs and white stomachs. Their faces are also white with triangular black markings around their eyes and black noses

Range - Lemurs live in Madagascar.

Habitat -  It lives in tropical rainforest, tree farms, and croplands with trees. 

Diet -   It eats fruits , leaves, flowers, insects, and other small vertebrates.

Status - Now there are only 100 left in the wild.  There are no woolly lemur species left in the captivity.

Reason for the status - This is because of deforestation due to slash and burn agriculture. It is also hunted for food and captured for pet trade.

Gestation : 130 days

Longevity : 7 years
