General Characteristics Head to body Length : 4 feet (1.3 meters) Tail Length :25-37 cm (10-14 inches) Height : Weight : 15-45kg ( 33- 99 lbs) Description : The sea otter has the thickest fur in the animal kingdom. Unlike other marine mammals, the sea otter does not have a layer of blubber (fat) to help keep it warm. If an otter’s fur gets coated with oil or any other substance, it can easily die from cold and exposure. Range - Sea Otters live in widespread is sub polar region Australia,Madagascar,Sahara,part East U.S.S.R, West China, West Asia, South America and North America. Habitat - They live in aquatic and terrestrial areas. Diet - It eats frogs, crayfish, crabs, fish and eels. Status - Now there are only 2,200 remaining. They may get wiped out if people arent careful. Reason for the status - People kill them for their skin. What Type of animal is it - It is a Carnivore Gestation : 6- 8 months Longevity : 15 -20 years
