RANGE:  Central Sahara Desert

 HABITAT: Sandy and stony desert lands

FOOD:  Grasses, and leaves

STATUS: The population is decreasing. There is only fewer than 2500 remaining

 REASON FOR STATUS: Hunting , poaching through degradation of natural habitat.

 GESTATION PERIOD: 156 -169 days

 LIFESPAN: up to 14 yrs in both captivity and in the wild.
