Habitat:  Open plains and grasslands

Diet: Grass seeds and shrubs

Status:  There has been a decline 60 % decline from 1979 – present

Reason for the status: exotic plant invasion , fire management , tarmac road development

Gestation period: 5 – 6 months

Longevity: 10 – 12 years in the wild / 12 years in captivity
